100th Annual Santa Fe Indian Market Gala

by SWAIA (Southwest Association of Indigenous Arts)

Model for Jason Baerg

August 2022 @ Santa Fe Indian Market, New Mexico

Jason Baerg is a Toronto-based, Cree-Metis designer with a Masters of Fine Arts from Rutgers University.

Pieces presented in this runway show were from his “Ayimach Horizons” Collection. The designs themselves blend contemporary styles with his indigenous Cree-Metis roots.

I was honored to wear a piece of his that had been previously photographed and featured in VOGUE. As if his creative genius was not already obvious from the pieces themselves, this black/red top/bottom combo is reversible. It can be worn in four ways with: black/black, red/red, black/red, or red/black facing front.

Baerg’s creativity also shows in his paintings and large scale media installations. He is currently a professor of Indigenous Painting and Media Art at OCAD University on track to becoming tenured.
